Accomplished activities
- Vulture Restaurant Establishment: Vulture Restaurantprovides a safe food for vultures that is free from from harmful veterinary drugs and poisons.
- Water pond construction (Pani Pokhari): The construction of pond provides drinking water for the cattle at rescue center as well as provides irrigation facility for the drought land of depressed locals.
- Diclofenac Free Zone Declaration: Dang district was declared a Diclofenac Free Zone on 26th November, 2010 after a continuous monitoring of diclofenac in veterinary pharmacies of Dang district when no diclofenac was found in the district to discourage the further use of diclofenac in veterinary practice in the district; dang district was declared as a diclofenac free Zone on 26th Nov.2010.
- Women’s saving and credit group formation and mobilization: Altogether thirteen women saving and credit groups (Seven in Bijouri VDC and 6 in Rampur VDC) have been and mobilized.
- Capacity building training: 6 months training package on sewing and cutting was provided at Hemantapur and Basghadi of Bijari VDC for women and distributed the sewing machine in group.
- Livestock Farming: Goats and Pigs were distributed to eight women group (Bijauri Dang) having 25 women in each group to enhance their economic circumstance.
- Climate change issue: Seminar on emerging issues of climate change, its cause, effect and control measures have been conducted in 27 places of Dang district.
- Awareness & advocacy: A secondary school level poem competition and 57 education outreach have been organized on biodiversity as vulture, wildlife and forestry.
- Plantation: 400 plants of Sami species were planted on Guhar river bank 400 and 12,000 plants of Simal species were planted in six community forests of Bijouri VDC. Similarly, 15 plants have been planted in Charange lake’s area at Rampur VDC dang.
- School building construction: Three rooms have been constructed as a support for the Saraswoti primary school, which is located in manpur VDC-3 Dang, the settlement of poor community.
- Construction of retaining walls: Four retaining walls have been constructed on the bank of Guharkhola, Chauwakhola, Dolahi khola and Rapti river side Dang and Deukhuri site. It’s conserving agriculture land, lake conservation and land slide.
- Organic vegetable farming: Five women groups in Rampur VDC have been supported for their economic status improvement.
- Vermin compost fertilizer production: Vermin compost fertilizer has been produced in Bijouri VDC. This fertilizer is used by organic vegetable farming groups and other farmers.
- Charange wetland lake conservation: Charange Wetland Lake has been improved and conserved which is situated in Rampur VDC dang.
- Environmental information and research center establishment: An information and research center is being built in Hemantapur for information sharing on biodiversity of Dang district. Ministry of local development has provided financial support for this work.
- Rescue and release of injured vultures: One injured vulture was broght from Banke National Park and the bird was released after treatment for one month. Further thirteen injured vultures from poisoning were treated and released after cure in 2013.
- Allocation of forest area for vulture conservation: District Forest Office, Dang has allocated 17.5 hectare of land as Vulture protection forest which is managed by ESDRC.
