Simtharo is one of the local rice variety which is also a recognition of Dang district. This species has been recognized in Dang district for its wider usefulness. This rice species is useful for people with diabetes too. For the conservation of this rice variety, ESDRC with the support of UNDP/GEF/SGP has provided seeds to local farmers of Buka village (Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city ward no. 1 and 2). This rice species can be grown in lands having no irrigation facility too.
